After a decade of service to Portland Farmers Market, Executive Director Trudy Toliver is moving on to a new chapter in her life. Even as we celebrate her accomplishments and share our gratitude for her commitment, we are seeking the right person to take on this role.
This past year, PFM had the honor of partnership with Slow Food Portland whose volunteers coordinated the Market Scouts program for kids at the Lents International Farmers Market. Instead of hands-on activities, Slow Food Portland inspired youth to try new foods, make healthy food choices and understand their place in the food system by providing take-home activities. There where more than 1000 visits to the booth, with each visitor receiving $3 in market tokens. That means additional sales for market vendors and farm fresh food for neighborhood families. It was a rousing success full of heartwarming moments.
