Winemaker Leah Jorgensen
Leah Jorgensen may think she’s flying under the radar, but her wines are doing anything but. Voted by Wine Press NW as the 2014 Winery to Watch and by Great Northwest Wine as having the #33 best NW wine (Tour Rain, 2012 Cab Franc/Gamay blend), she is forging a path through the Oregon wine world as an innovator for what our state is capable of.
Her wines are characterized by delicious, juicy fruit that maintain depth and structure from the nose to the very last mouthful, with just enough dark earth to transport you to forest in the evening, where the balmy air hangs redolent with ripe blackberry.
Chef Brandon Armstrong
Anyone who has been enjoying the tasting menu recently has been enjoying the fine talents of Chef de Cuisine Brandon Armstrong, who has surpassed our expectations in his abilities to execute Chef Nathan’s delicious menus while also creating his own menu that we have struggled to find a new name for, because it cannot simply be deemed ‘The Bar Menu’ any longer.
From miniature beef wellingtons stuffed with mushroom duxelle and smothered in burnt cinnamon port wine sauce to burgers so local that some of us know them from that one lecture at U of O, we have been thrilled for every day that we seduced him away from much fancier digs (Urban Farmer at The Nines, Alchemy) to join us in our quest to invent and serve The Very Best.
As such, we felt that it was time to let Chef Brandon get crazy in the dining room for an evening and craft a menu around up-and-coming winemaker Leah Jorgensen’s fabulous wines. A truly special event, we hope sincerely that it is one you do not miss.
