This Saturday at 10:00 the opening bell will signal the beginning of the Winter Market. Despite the challenges of the past couple of years, we go into the 2022 season with optimism and excitement. Our goal every year is to provide market-goers with an unparalleled shopping experience. When selecting vendors, our question is always – how does this farm or business enhance the shopping experience of our customers?
We look for the best and the brightest every season so we weren’t surprised to hear that the brick-and-mortar store belonging to the market vendor, Puppernickel, was voted BEST Pet Store in a Hillsboro New-Times poll for the second year in a row. The good people of Hillsboro know what we have known all along and that is that owners Krystal Michaels Monroe and Tim Monroe make the finest handcrafted doggy treats around. In addition to pupcakes and meat treats, their store also carries Healthy Roots CBD products for humans and dogs as well as doggy apparel, pet toys, and dog & cat food. Puppernickel will be in the market this Saturday so make sure to stop by and pick up something tasty for your favorite furry family member.
Reminder- while we love our furry friends, we only allow them in the market if they are in your arms, or a wagon, cart, or backpack. Dogs on leashes in our busy aisles are a tripping hazard for unsuspecting people, plus they have been known to pee on boxes sitting on the ground.
Besides the later opening bell, we also wanted to mention that there are a few other differences between the Winter and Summer markets. We do not close the streets surrounding the market so there is close-in parking. We will have a section of Washington Street between 3rd and 4th streets reserved for handicapped parking.
Because we do not close off the streets the layout for the market is a little different. Don’t be surprised if you can’t find a favorite vendor in their usual location. If you have any questions about a vendor, whether they are in the market or their location, make sure to stop by the information booth (under the solar canopy) and ask for assistance. The information booth is also the place to find Market Sprouts (kid’s club) activities, purchase market tokens (credit, debit, or SNAP), purchase market merch, or inquire about Lost & Found. There you will find an ATM for customer use, as well as a first-aid box should you find yourself in need. You can also ask for a complimentary mask.
Market Mask Policy – with covid running rampant in the community, all market staff and vendors are required to wear masks. For market customers, it is optional but highly recommended!
We’d like to introduce you to a couple of the new vendors that will be starting this Saturday – Brothy – Three years ago, owner Julia Baker started drinking bone broth regularly to help cope with some digestive issues. While she found the broth to be extremely helpful, she couldn’t find a product that was made with grass-fed, pasture-raised bones so she started making her own. Now she will be making Brothy for market shoppers using bones from our very own Lonely Lane Farms (pastured beef, pork, and lamb)
Nate’s Oatmeal Cookies– baker Nate Lown got his recipe from his mother who had perfected it over 20 years. Nate’s cookies are 100% vegan made with Miyokos Creamery Vegan Butter and organic rolled oats and organic whole wheat flour. They come in a variety of flavors including Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter, and Raisin Pecan.
Warm Regards,
The Beaverton Farmers Market
We will see you this Saturday at the Market from 10:00 AM-1:30 PM.
The Market is very excited about the activities it has planned for our youngest shoppers this year! Market Sprouts is the kids club at the market that promotes eating locally, gardening, exercise, and science through education and activities. Kicking off the 2022 season bring your little market sprout by to receive an annual passport card, farmers market coloring sheet, and Tater Tat fruit or vegetable tattoo. Kids can earn prizes by participating in activities throughout the market season.
Vendors You Can Expect the First Week
