As Matthew announced at the end of October, he has turned over the keys of the beloved Firehouse to new owners Joel Carson, Miles Kusch, Jarrott Moonitz, and Kitling Lum as of November 1. We would like to take this time to introduce ourselves. Together, we have owned and operated the Pope House Bourbon Lounge in NW Portland since 2009–our quaint little lounge in a historic Victorian house, dedicated to great whiskey and great eats.
We look forward to continuing traditions that have evolved at Firehouse as well as creating new ones for the future. We have a great respect for what the restaurant has become to its staff, guests, and the Woodlawn neighborhood. We are dedicated to maintaining the warm, friendly atmosphere and high quality food that Firehouse is known for.
Chef | Owner Jarrott Moonitz has been busy getting to know the kitchen and has been working closely with Sous Chef Matt Albrecht and the rest of the team to bring you many of your old favorites as well as new dishes. The menu will be seasonally focused, handmade, and locally sourced. Great food comes from great ingredients, and we at Firehouse are proud to work directly with local farmers, ranchers, and artisans to provide honest food from honest sources
General Manager | Owner Miles Kusch brings his years of experience behind the bar and as general manager of the Pope House Bourbon Lounge to Firehouse. As he gets to know the staff and their routines, he is also working on expanding Firehouse’s cocktail program, bringing more wine, beer, and cocktail selections to accompany your meal
Co-Owners Joel Carson and Kitling Lum lived in the up and coming Woodlawn neighborhood between 2008 and 2014. When Firehouse opened, they enjoyed a delicious wood-fired pizza and a bottle of wine in the new restaurant down the street, excited for the growth and charm it would bring to the community. They are looking forward to being a part of Woodlawn again!
