Portland, Ore. (Sept. 22, 2017) – On October 7, cheesemakers from around Oregon and the US will gather for the culmination of the first-ever Oregon Cheese Month at The Wedge 2017, the Oregon Cheese Guild’s signature event celebrating cheese and everything that goes with it. Hundreds of tantalizing handmade cheeses, specialty foods, and craft beverages will be available for tasting and purchase from more than 75 regional creameries, cideries, wineries, breweries, and artisan food and beverage producers.
The big news for 2017 is The Wedge has moved indoors to Alder Block, home of the Portland Night Market at 100 SE Alder. Tickets are available in advance for $15 or at the door for $20. All tickets come with a $5 voucher to purchase a favorite cheese! Tickets and information at www.thewedgeportland.com
This year’s event features a record number of food and beverage vendors, including 25 cheesemakers, who will be showing all 15 of Oregon’s award-winning cheeses from the recent American Cheese Society national competition. Craft beer, cider, wine, spirits, mead, and even sake will be on hand from 15 local producers. An additional $10 lets festivalgoers taste through this array of beverages and comes with a commemorative glass to take home.
Food vendors bring a smorgasbord of flavors and textures to the table with charcuterie, chocolate, hot sauces, nut butters, jams and jellies, tea, salt, honey, shrubs, and more. The Wedge is the perfect chance to build the Ultimate Cheese Board!
Other highlights include an interactive cheesemaking experience and the chance to meet special guest Mercedes the Calf. Special thanks to our sponsors: New Seasons Market, Tillamook, Face Rock Creamery, Polar Seltzer, and Ristretto Roasters.
