What a memorable harvest 2017 has been. It’s not quite over yet, but the quality of grapes we’ve been picking since we began on September 2nd is stunning.
With the smoke cleared and the blue skies helping the last of the grapes finish ripening, we are on target to finish picking around the 11th or 12th of the month. So with that bit of uncontrollable Mother Nature planning finally coming together, I’m happy to start planning the rest of the month of October and events.
Here’s some great chances to taste Viola wines with us in the coming weeks. Plus – I’ll be in the tasting room for regular hours this Friday, October 7th from 2-7pm, so please stop by if you’re in need of restocking or want to sit and have a glass of vino with me. Otherwise, I hope to see you at one of these other gatherings in the weeks ahead.
Sat, Oct 14th, 1pm – 5pm @ the Winery in NW Cedar Mill

Limited seating – get your tickets hereWe are looking forward to sharing our stories of battling the Eagle Creek fire during harvest, while sampling an inventive menu put together by Chef Jun Robles. Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, like most children of immigrant parents, Jun grew up in two worlds: An all American kid at school and Filipino as can be at home. He’s been exploring his culinary roots since 2009 when he started working in some of the city’s best kitchens, including Le Pigeon, Nostrana, Oven & Shaker, and XLB where he currently serves as a sous chef.
Working with the folks at Coopers Hall, Jun and I will put together food and wine to take you on a unique journey. We’ll be joined by folks from Friends of the Gorge and you’ll hear stories about the impact of the Eagle Creek fire as well as how we can best make efforts to rebuild the area of the Gorge directly impacted by the fire. A portion of the proceeds from the evening will be donated to Friends of the Gorge by Coopers Hall. You can find the menu as well as purchase your tickets here on Feastly.
Wed, Oct 18th from 6pm @ 16 Tons on 13thFriends to our South, please come join me as I launch Viola wines in the Eugene market with the help of the fine folks at 16 Tons Taphouse & Bottleshop on E. 13th Avenue. I’ve always thought my Dolcetto pairs particularly well with Duck! I’ll be pouring a flight of 5 current releases and sharing tales of harvest. But please don’t ask me how many decades ago it was that I attended UofO.
