Fall is here. And so are 4 New Releases!
Harvest 2017 is now officially a wrap. The photos above are from the last bin of the season. We picked Dolcetto (and about 60 pounds of Moscato Giallo) on Tuesday and after crushing a ton of it for red wine, I jumped into a picking bin and stomped on the last bin to make a little extra Rosato this year. It was a tasty day, and we toasted to the fabulous quality of fruit this harvest with a special bottling from an iconic old vineyard in the hills of Geyserville down in Sonoma. Our hearts are quite heavy learning friends and industry peers down South have lost so much and we are hopeful they will get the fires under control soon. The 2017 harvest will definitely be the year remembered for forest fires. But hopefully – it will turn out to be the most stellar vintage yet of Viola creations, as the quality of the grapes this year, for me, surpasses even the perfect 2014 growing season. Here’s hoping!
If you want to help efforts for recovery locally caused by the Eagle Creek fire in the Gorge, there is still some space to join us at the special Friends of the Gorge Fundraiser Dinner this Monday at Coopers Hall. Learn more and buy tickets here.
As we head into Fall, we have a bunch of wines in bottle that are ready to greet the world. I will be pouring all 4 of the new releases this Friday in the tasting room and this Saturday at the winery. Choose the most convenient location for yourself and please come join the tasting fun. Tasting fee is free for Viola Club members (limit 2), waived for all others with the purchase of 2 or more bottles. We think there is going to be more than 2 things that will tempt you this time around.
