Vino Veritas Mexican Wine Month events

February 26, 2021

Vino Veritas March Wine Tasting Events Feature Latinx Wines From Oregon’s Willamette Valley to Baja California/Mexico

March events feature AHIVOY’s Latinx Winemakers from the Willamette Valley

Portland, Ore. (February 26, 2021) — Portland’s Montavilla neighborhood wine bar and bottle shop Vino Veritas will celebrate Latinx winemakers as part of a monthlong wine tasting series in March. Vino Veritas sommelier and Mexican native, Miguel Marquez, is an instructor for AHIVOY, a Willamette Valley nonprofit that provides education and professional development to Latinx vineyard workers, empowering them to overcome socioeconomic challenges and establish careers in the wine industry.

“My mentoring work with the AHIVOY winemakers has shown me that education is the foundation to a better future,” said Marquez. “I hope to amplify these diverse voices and their impact in our community, and build awareness for their wines and the role they have within Oregon’s wine industry. I also want to introduce Portland to some of the wines coming out of Baja California, one of Mexico’s exciting wine regions.”

Wine enthusiasts will have opportunities to taste wines from four Latinx winemakers in the Willamette Valley, as well as Mexican wines from the up-and-coming wine region of Baja California. Vino Veritas offers one of Portland’s largest retail selections of Mexican wines available by the glass or bottle.
