Celebrating THE CITY’s 145 Iconic SQUARE Miles
Winter campaign features discount app; customizable travel itineraries; expansive dining, beverage events and tax-free shopping
PORTLAND, Ore. – Today, Travel Portland, the official destination marketing organization for the city of Portland, launches “More Portland Is Happening Now,” its fourth annual winter tourism campaign. Highlighting 145 unique reasons to visit Portland this winter (one reason for every square mile of the city), Travel Portland celebrates the diverse activities available to visitors in Portland throughout the winter months.
“Portland is a city where something is happening every hour of every day, and even more so this winter,” said Jeff Miller, president and CEO of Travel Portland. “We’re showcasing 145 reasons to visit Portland now, while new itinerary offerings simplify the process of planning a trip and help visitors customize their experience.”
Through the campaign’s online hub (TravelPortland.com/145) visitors will find 145 things to celebrate about Portland using the key interest filters: Eat, Drink, Shop, See and Events. These filters let explorers personalize their plans quickly and easily, while offering the most ambitious travelers the opportunity to peruse the full suite of recommendations. The truly adventurous can use the “Surprise me” button to pull in a dozen random suggestions from the list. Four prepared itineraries also offer recommendations for distinct Portland experiences: The Perfect First Time Trip, An Outdoor Trailblazer’s Guide, A Taster’s Guide and The Fourth Timer’s Guide.
“From tax-free shopping to craft beer and some of the finest chefs in America, this is a mere sample of the incredible offerings available in Portland,” continued Miller.
Activities include tax-free shopping in popular retail districts, indulging in the city’s globally acclaimed dining scene, sampling at the city’s 70 craft breweries and 20+ urban wineries, and experiencing world-class cinema, music and contemporary art through winter film, jazz and light festivals.
