The Portland Picnic Hosts its Third Wine Tasting Festival

June 26, 2019

The Portland Picnic is proud to present the region’s most welcoming wine festival for the third year running in Westmoreland Park.

The Picnic saw a sizeable turnout in its first and second years, due in part to the fact that the event caters to a burgeoning niche in Portland: young families. There’s wine for the casual drinker and enthusiast alike. Portland food cart delicacies are always on-hand and live music and activities to keep everyone entertained.

“There aren’t many festivals where you can go and enjoy wine tasting with your entire family. Being family friendly means we’ve involved the entire community and have found ways for everyone to enjoy themselves,” says Emily Motter, event owner with her husband, Travis.

Guests are encouraged to enjoy their wine surrounded by the beauty of Westmoreland Park. Wines for every taste and price point are hand-selected by Travis Motter, owner and vintner of The Portland Bottle Shop in Sellwood.

“For the kids, we’re bringing back popular performances by the Olde World Puppet Theatre as well as an appearance by Rojo the Llama,” says Emily. “And for the whole crowd, we’ve procured amazing local musicians and, Level Beer will be available for those who aren’t wine drinkers and of course, some of the best local food truck fare.”

The event is supported by sponsors, vendors and nearly 100 volunteers. Thanks to their support, the Picnic is proud to give event proceeds to a vital nonprofit called Ride Connection which provides accessible transportation for seniors and people with disabilities in our communities. Ride Connection has been moving people in the Portland area for over 30 years.
