The beloved Mother’s Bistro and Bar has recently served its last meal in its original location after 19 years of residency and Chef/Owner Lisa Schroeder is getting ready to open the doors to her brand-new restaurant! This past Wednesday, Schroeder and team celebrated the end of an era by marching to the new location with local band MarchFourth.
The new Mother’s is located just down the street from the original location, at the Embassy Suites in downtown Portland, OR (121 SW Third Ave.) and will officially open to the public this coming Monday, January 21st at 7am.
Here’s some more information about the upcoming opening:
Schroeder has decided to move her current location with the intention that Mother’s will “live on forever”, as they were bursting at the seams at the Stark Street location.
While there are new additions to the menu (including but not limited to Bistro Bowls with choice of quinoa, jasmine, or brown rice and Linguine & Meatballs), guests can expect to find many of their favorites that they’ve grown to love.
Though the space is new, (and much more spacious!) long-time customers will be pleasantly surprised by familiar elements in the design of the restaurant, which will have many of the same features as the original space (the beautiful chandeliers, vintage mirrors, etc.).
With the new space will also come decreased wait times! If there is a short wait, guests will now be able to wait comfortably in the hotel lobby with coffee. It will be a calmer, more soothing environment.
Additionally, Mother’s will continue to operate their original Velvet Lounge Bar space at SW Stark under the name “Mother’s Velvet Lounge and Cafe,” and will offer a focused menu of Southern comfort foods featuring dishes such as Shrimp n’ Grits, Chicken n’ Waffles, and more.
