The Library Journal – November 2020 | Vol. 05, Ed. 11
GREETINGS AND SALUTATIONS
Holiday season is here! This is a great time of the year to think about the things we are thankful for, and that list starts with you. Thank you for making it this far with us in 2020! We are looking forward to safely welcoming you and your guests in the Library during this time of celebration and connection.
It’s also a great time to start planning your holiday reservations. As always at this time of the year, weekend reservations are filling up fast. Due to the generous spacing of our seating, we have less tables than we normally do, so make sure to book those important reservations ahead of time. We will be opening an hour earlier at 3pm on Fridays and Saturdays to welcome more members and guests during this busy season.
We have added new private dining options as well for you and your guests during these unusual holidays. On Sundays and Mondays we will be opening the Library for you to host your family get-together or small holiday cocktail party. Keep reading for more information on how to book your private party with us as well as the details on our take home holiday meal kits! Also in this volume: details on gifting a membership to a friend or favorite charity, plus some exciting featured spirits and a fresh take on a classic drink.
As always, thank you for your readership and we look forward to seeing you soon.

GIFT A MEMBERSHIP TO THE LIBRARY
BE A GIFT GIVING ALL-STAR
Whether it’s for a great friend, a helpful colleague or your favorite charity, a membership to the Library will be something special.
Connecting is more important now than ever; let us help you create your circle at the Library. Our goal this holiday season is to be a place that helps you connect – when you walk into the Library, we want you to see the people you care about. Members are now able to gift a membership to a friend, and non-members are welcome to gift a membership to a charity or non-profit.
What if my friend is not dining out right now? No problem! The lucky new member will have one year to initiate their membership. Hopefully, you’ll get to see them at the Library soon, but if not, it will be something great to look forward to.
Why would I gift a membership to a charity instead of donating money? MWL Memberships raise an average of $3000 -$4000 when sold at local charity auctions, and some of them raise more – a lot more. Many charities have canceled their largest in-person fundraising events such as galas and balls and are pivoting to online auctions to raise funds. Your $650 investment can make a major impact during a tough year.
November’s Featured Cocktail comes to you from MWL bartender Allie Guevarra. The Harvey Danger was inspired by the mid-century classic, the Harvey Wallbanger.
“Originally made with vodka, I chose Portland local and woman-owned distillery, Freeland Gin, to easily pair with the flavor profile of Galliano liqueur,” Allie says. “Balanced and herbaceous, this cocktail will transport you to any of our green and lush PNW forest trails.”
.75 oz Freeland Gin
.75 oz Galliano
.75 oz Original Combier
.75 oz orange juice
2 dashes citric acid*
Combine ingredients in a shaker, add ice and shake well. Strain into a chilled coupe.
*If you don’t have citric acid, you can omit it. Instead, reduce the orange juice amount to .5oz and add.25oz lemon juice.
*The text line is available for last minute information regarding that evening’s service, such as reservation changes, letting us know you are running late, or to put your name on the wait list for an available table. It is not intended for future reservation requests and is not monitored outside service hours. Please direct these requests to email@example.com or leave us a voicemail at (503)954-1381. Thank you!
