Higgins Restaurant is Now Accepting Reservations for Thanksgiving Indoor Dining and Thanksgiving Feast Boxes To Go
PORTLAND, Ore.—Oct. 20, 2020—This Thanksgiving might look a little different thanks to the pandemic, but one restaurant is aiming to bring back some normalcy. Higgins, Portland’s pioneering farm-to-table restaurant, is now accepting reservations for Thanksgiving dinner in its dining room on Thursday, November 26, from 1 to 8 p.m. Reservations can be made through the website at HigginsPortland.com.
For those who prefer eating at home, Higgins is also offering a limited number of Thanksgiving Feast Boxes, ready to go with reheating instructions, for curbside pickup. The Thanksgiving Feast boxes amply feed four with leftovers and include Higgins’ famous charcuterie and artisan cheese board, soup, salad, one of two main courses, and a choice of dessert for family or friends to enjoy. Thanksgiving Feast Boxes cost $250; view the complete menu on the website, then call the restaurant at 503-222-9070 to place a prepaid order.
“Thanksgiving has traditionally been one of our busiest days of the year,” said Greg Higgins. “This year in particular we are thankful that our doors remain open, and we want to celebrate once again with our friends and guests, whether they choose to dine in or take their meal to go.”
Higgins has partnered with a number of local purveyors on this year’s Thanksgiving menus. Champoeg Farms was selected to provide the turkeys, thanks to farmer Mark Anderson’s commitment to the process, consistency and quality of pasture-raised turkey. Michelle Vernier with Bella’s Italian Bakery & Market is providing the crackers for the charcuterie and cheese boards, as well as pumpkin pies with candied pumpkin seeds. Sommelier Andy Zalman has put together an outstanding list of beers and wines by the bottle that complement both menus and can be ordered in house or as an addition to the Thanksgiving Feast Boxes.
To ensure the safety and comfort of its guests dining in, Higgins has rearranged its dining room to address capacity and traffic patterns, installed new tabletops and plexiglas partitions, and added HEPA filter air purifiers with UV light sanitizers in each dining room.
Piggins—Higgins’ parkside pop up patio outside the Oregon Historical Society plaza—continues to operate as a takeout restaurant serving an abridged HIggins menu. Piggins is open with a number of tables from 12 to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and closed Sunday through Tuesday. The Piggins takeout menu can be viewed at HigginsPiggins.com with orders called in to 971-323-2119.
