Tell the Senate to pass restaurant relief

October 19, 2020

Hi there,

We’re still in the midst of our fight to save restaurants. With everything going on in the news and on Capitol Hill, we wanted to share the latest on where we stand. Before we dive in, we want you to know that we understand how devastating this continued uncertainty can be. We are giving it our all, and we are grateful for your support.

This week, the Senate is planning to vote on additional stimulus packages before heading home for the election — and we need to tell them to include restaurant relief. Nearly half of the Senate has already signed on to the RESTAURANTS Act, which establishes the $120 billion restaurant revitalization fund that was included in the House’s recently-passed stimulus package. It’s paramount that the Senate follows suit.

Below are three new ways you can take action this week to help:

  • Do you have a personal connection to a senator who hasn’t cosponsored the RESTAURANTS Act yet? Take a look at the list of sponsors here and reply to this email if you know someone.
  • Check out our recently-updated lobbying guide and use the tools to reach out.
  • Share our new social media graphic below, tagging your senators and using this caption: It’s been 7 months and the Senate still hasn’t taken action to #SaveRestaurants. 500,000 businesses and the 16M jobs we support are in crisis. I’m calling my senators to urge them to step up to the plate and pass restaurant relief now. Join me: ☎️ (202) 224-3121 @IndpRestaurants

U.S. Senate: Step up to the plate

Thanks,

The IRC Team
