World-Class Jazz Starts  7 Nights/Week on June 1

We welcome back the best jazz musicians in the Northwest to our “Waterfall Stage” at Tavern on Kruse.  We even have east coast musicians stopping on a west-coast tour this year.

We’re Ready for You This Time Around…

(We Think).

This week last year… we were eating under plastic tarps, dining on ugly plastic red and white checkerboards, the government had just told us we could open for Mother’s Day seven days after they told us we had to shut down for Mother’s Day (so we had canceled all of our reservations). Indoors, there was plexiglass hanging from the ceiling and a maximum capacity of 50%. Social distancing laws meant we could only have 4 cooks in the kitchen and as for servers and bartenders, “staffing up for summer” was the punchline of the cruelest joke I had ever been the butt of.

You’ll be happy to know… that Chef Nate and I are doing everything we can think of to be ready for June 1. We’ve been training seasonal staff for months. He wrote our current (amazing) menu with the reality of 100 guests arriving within 45 minutes for a jazz show (sorry, no double-cut pork chops that require 20 minutes this year). We bought new umbrellas so that we could cover more of our patio seats on blistering days. I’m working on better sound distribution for the bands (so everything doesn’t blare from center stage). You will find at least one more server and one more bartender on the floor every shift compared to last summer.

I will apologize now that things will still be imperfect. I’m still the same old ADHD me and I’ve got 10 high school kids navigating their first job and some bands are going to be too loud no matter what we ask and somebody is going to call in sick… and God knows what else. But last summer was both my proudest season and my most humiliating. Or maybe I should say “humbling.” In any case, it was my most educational. This summer, I’m out of excuses. And I couldn’t be happier.

I can’t wait to see you.

Sincerely,

Two Double Umbrellas are up for grabs…

I had six made. I’m only going to use four. This means I have two brand new double-cantilevered heavy duty commercial umbrellas in their boxes ready for summer. Each canopy covers 10′ x 10′, so you’ll need 10’x21′ for them to fit. These are the same as in the pictures at the top of this email.

The only place I could find double cantelevered umbrellas for comparison on the web was rh.com where they start at $15K each (like everything there). I’m asking $2500 each for these.
