Your overwhelming response to “after-dinner jazz” has set the stage…
“What if we turned Tavern into a jazz club after dinner?” was my question. Nothing I have ever proposed generated such excited support. So we’re going to do it. And if you’ll help me make it work, we’ll bring Portland’s top jazz artists and ensembles to Lake Oswego every Saturday night.
October 26th @ 8:45pm:
The Christopher Brown Quartet
These young lions are among the best in Portland. Google the names above and you’ll see. The music will be incredible, the vibe will be magical. Come out and see!
Christopher Brown – Drums
John Astos – Saxophone
Greg Goebel – Keyboards
Cary Miga – Bass
How The Night Will Work…
I am cutting off dining room reservations at 6:30 on Saturday to clear the dining room and set up a band by 8:45.
You can reserve seats for any show by reply to this email or by phone (not online). We reserve the right to “sharing tables” if demand dictates. “No-show” reserved seats will be made available to others after 9pm if there is a standing-room only crowd.
I do not want to start with a cover charge but do need to guarantee the bands an appearance fee. I am putting an added “voluntary band tip” line on all credit card tabs so that you can support the artists who have dedicated their night to entertaining you and help me make my guarantee. Please recognize that I’ve already cut my dinner revenue by 25%-30% for the night by shutting down the dining room early. I trust you’ll agree with me that good music is worth it.
If you want to come for dinner at or before 8pm and dine in the bar and stay for the show, we can work that out. Just tell us at the time of your reservation. The kitchen will be offering an adequate and delicious but somewhat limited food menu after 8:30pm.
