Owners of Tabor Tavern Bring Elevated Pub Fare to North Portland
Portland, Ore. (July 15, 2015) – Ken “Zig” Naffziger and wife Kristen Siefkin, owners of Tabor Tavern, have opened their second restaurant, Swift and Union in the historic Kenton neighborhood. Swift and Union is located at 8103 North Denver. Opening hours are Sunday-Wednesday 4pm-10pm
Thursday-Saturday 4pm-11pm. In coming weeks, Swift and Union will be open seven days for lunch and dinner, as well as weekend brunch.
“We have been working on this project for months and are ecstatic that it is officially open,” said Naffziger. “Kristen and I moved into this neighborhood a little more than a year ago and felt an immediate affinity for the area and knew we wanted to be a part of it.”
The name, Swift and Union, is a nod to the neighborhood’s history as a company town, when Union Meat Company and Swift & Company ruled.
Chef Aaron Hepp-Buchanan — whose food philosophy is one of simplicity, and letting fresh, local ingredients speak for themselves — developed the menu. At Swift and Union, he’s committed to serving modern, internationally inspired pub fare. Swift and Union has eleven taps, including a rotating selection of regional beers, wines and ciders, as well as a large selection of craft cocktails.
The turn-of-the-century and bovine-inspired décor was created in partnership with former Kenton retailers, Boys Fort. The build out was managed by Sean Herron of Big Idea Group.
Swift and Union seats 60 people in the dining area, 14 at the bar, and 22 outside.
