Berries, herbs, and flowers!
Greetings! School is out and the long, sunny days of summer are here! For those of us who work with food, summer brings excitement that goes beyond the burst of vitamin D that we’ve all been waiting for. Watching the luscious produce of the Pacific Northwest roll out in a tapestry of colors, textures, and tastes is so inspiring in the restaurant setting. Stop in to feast on berries like raspberries, loganberries, and blackberries; herbs like agastache, kinome leaf, and sweet cicely (all grown in our garden!); and flowers like sweet pea blossoms and nasturtium. As always Chef Justin Woodward’s food is a celebration of vegetables and produce. We are looking forward to dining with you!
Now that our sommelier Brent is back from the Food and Wine Classic in Aspen he is diving into some summer wine events. In addition to an appearance at the annual International Pinot Noir Celebration (IPNC), you’ll find him at Castagna gearing up for our second annual Riesling month in August! As Brent says, “Riesling is the greatest grape in the world and it deserves an entire month to be celebrated!”
He’s also busily planning some special somm picks in the café. Ask for Brent the next time you’re in and he’s sure to find a bottle with your name one it!
Happy summer to you and yours!
