Classic Steakhouse is August 4-5 Theme
You don’t need to go to Ruth’s Chris’ Frank’s Bob’s to get a great steak dinner, because our August Supper Club will take you there, for our dinner themed, “Classic Night at a Steakhouse.” We’ll satisfy your desire for that laid-back jet-setter cool steakhouse vibe, with excellent paired wines from Maryhill Winery. Yes, there will be smoked filet mignon. Yes, there will be chocolate. And the rest? You’ll just have to wait and see.
Buy your tickets here for Friday or Saturday, August 4-5! And check out the “Rules” story to the left, to get answers to all your Supper Club questions.
If you haven’t been to Supper Club yet, this is your almost last chance this summer. We conclude our 2017 series with a dinner Sept. 8-9: Growing up on Grandma Rose’s Farm. (And keep this in mind: We’ll be offering a New Year’s Eve dinner too.)
Smart-Alecky Farmer puts Chef in her Place
I want what I want when I want it. But my farmers are quick to tether my high-flying inquiries to an earth that can only produce what it can produce, especially after a cold, wet spring, or in the heat of August. So this week, as I started hunting things for our August dinner, I asked my farmers: who would have lovely Italian greens, such as treviso, escarole, radicchio, or frisee?
And that young upstart farmer Ben Saur writes me back, “You’re killing me! Radicchio in August? Gonna have to wait for nice fall frosts for radicchio here!”
OK, so maybe I have to rethink that salad. BUT, that is what Supper Club is all about: a mashup of cheffy creativity to what is springing from the ground. On the plate, I am never so happy as when I create around what is truly in season, here in our Gorge. So on August 3, if you track my yellow X-Terra, I’ll be driving around to our local farms, hand-picking the best and the freshest to bring back to the fabulous kitchen at Husum Riverside B&B.
Beautiful, crisp, local flavor. We’ve been so happy to bring you delights from these local farms: Wildwood Farm, Saur Farming, Oak Rose Farm, Quercus Farm, Tumbleweed Farm. Mt. View Orchards and Jean Marie’s Garden.
Supper Club Rules of the Road
Here are all the little things you need to know about Supper Club, in one handy space.
Where do I park? There is limited parking in the Husum Riverside B&B lot. If you need handicap access, for sure come up the drive, which stops right in front of the patio and arbor dining area. If you are able-bodied, you can park on Highway 141, and walk up the drive. And we have permission to park at River Drifters.
What did I pay for? When you purchased your dinner, you paid for dinner and WA sales tax. You will likely also want to purchase wine or sparkling water, and we know we’re gonna take such good care of you, you will want to leave a gratuity for dinner and beverages. Only one hitch: if you are using a credit card, you will not be able to charge exclusively a gratuity, or a gratuity that is larger than say, your bar bill (to cover dinner gratuity). We suggest bringing cash and a big smile.
What if I need to cancel? You can cancel your dinner reservation and receive a refund up until one week before dinner. After that, you will need to either gift your tickets or sell them to someone else. Thanks for your consideration.
What if I have special dietary needs? Please send us a note when you reserve. It is no sweat for us to do vegetarian, gluten free, allergies or dairy free (except, we always use butter…). Vegan? Well, just talk to us first. This will likely not be a great experience for vegan diners.
Can I choose my dining companions? Groups of 4, 6 or 8 can always dine together if you let us know. We do seat parties of 2 with other groups. If this is a special occasion, and you want to just dine two alone, please let us know.
Can I bring my own wine? We are carefully choosing wines to pair with each dinner, from our local winery friends. We would prefer that you trust our choices. However, if you want to bring your own wine, please know that we charge a $10 per bottle corkage fee.
Can I take pictures? Oh, please do! And post them to your friends, using #husumsupperclub when posting on facebook or Twitter.
