SIX PORTLAND CHEFS TEAM UP FOR NO KID HUNGRY FUNDRAISING DINNER ON MAY 3
Plus, Portland restaurants take part in a citywide Dine Out fundraiser, donating 10% of sales to No Kid Hungry May 9 -11
Portland, Ore. (April 29, 2019) – Portland chefs will team up in a big way this May to raise funds for Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign. Ahead of 2019 Chef Cycle for No Kid Hungry ride, chefs are banding together to make an even greater impact and raise crucial funds to support the organization’s national and local efforts to end childhood hunger in America. The month-long fundraiser will kick off with a collaboration dinner with six top Portland chefs at Churchgate Station, chef/owner Troy MacLarty’s Indian supper club. On Friday, May 3, Churchgate Station will host an all-star six-course dinner raising funds for No Kid Hungry. 100% of ticket sales will go towards supporting Chef Cycle and No Kid Hungry. A silent auction will feature unique dining gift certificates and experiences that will raise funds for the cause. Tickets are $125 and include food, drinks and gratuity. Participating chefs include: Rick Gencarelli – Grassa and Lardo, Thomas Pisha-Duffly – Gado Gado, Chris Diminno – Trifecta, Matt Christianson – Urban Farmer, Krista Anderson – New Seasons Market and Troy MacLarty – Churchgate Station and Bollywood Theater. Thursday, May 9 through Saturday, May 11, Portland chefs will host Dine Out, whereby visiting your favorite Portland restaurants you can raise keys funds for No Kid Hungry. Restaurants will donate up to 10% of proceeds over the three days. Participating restaurants include Bollywood Theater, Lardo, Grassa, Por Que No, and many more to come!
Portland food industry professionals will bike 300 miles over three days in Santa Rosa, California as part of the 2019 Chefs Cycle for No Kid Hungry ride May 14 – 16. Funds raised through Chefs Cycle support No Kid Hungry’s national and local efforts to end childhood hunger in America. No Kid Hungry is working to end childhood hunger today by ensuring that kids start the day with a nutritious breakfast and families learn the skills they need to shop and cook on a budget. ABOUT CHURCHGATE STATION
Churchgate Station is a seasonal Indian supper club from Bollywood Theater chef/owner Troy MacLarty. A Chez Panisse alum, MacLarty’s intimate spin on a supper club is located next door to his Mumbai street food inspired restaurant Bollywood Theater on SE Division, and features farm-driven, seasonal Indian cooking. At Churchgate Station, MacLarty serve as chef, collaborator and experimenter. The 40-seat Churchgate Station—named for the southernmost train station in Mumbai—opened in November 2018. Intimate family style dinners happen Friday and Saturday nights, featuring ever-changing menus with thali trays, passed platters, and a chance for MacLarty to showcase his creative side using local and seasonal ingredients.
