Sesame Collective (almost) February Newsletter

January 31, 2021

As we look back on 2020 and ahead to 2021, we wanted to take a moment to say hello and officially introduce ourselves.
Sesame Collective was founded by Kasey Mills, Jamal Hassan and Laura Amans. A collective formed to promote and foster the talented culinary, beverage, and service professionals that we get to call our friends and colleagues.
Why the name? Beyond just being the humble foundation for much of our cuisine, sesame plants are hardy and resilient. They are known for growing where others cannot. We’ve all faced a lot of challenges this last year, but we will all come out more resilient for having done it together.
Our mission is to build a restaurant group that actively embodies the spirit of positive leadership, community collaboration and exceptional hospitality. Hospitality is for our team just as much as it is for our guests. It is at the core of who we are.
Our brand of hospitality is the feeling you get when you are seated at a table where the conversation is flowing, the vibes are enticing, and the dishes are delicious and memorable – all are welcome, all belong.
It takes a village to make exceptional restaurants. From a talented team to our excellent purveyors and our wonderful and devoted guests – it takes our whole community.
As we set forth on this new chapter, we hope you’ll join us. We appreciate you and count ourselves lucky to have your support during these challenging times.
Be well and love each other Portland.️ ✌️
