Le Pigeon, Little Bird and Canard Teams Take on Wine Country
This summer, our teams at Le Pigeon, Little Bird, and Canard have taken advantage of the beautiful sunny days and close proximity to wine country to take a few vineyard tours, talk to the winemakers, and deepen our wine know-ledge. Over 20 of our team members took part on at least one day of visits. Collectively we visited Walter Scott Wines, Goodfellow Family Cellars, Martin Woods Winery, Heater Allen (yes, that’s a brewery), Belle Pente Vineyards, The Eyrie Vineyards, Antica Terra, Evening Land Vineyards, Cristom, and Johan Vineyard. It was inspiring to see the dedication and passion of our friends in the Valley, and the wide array of wines and wine-making styles produced here. We are excited to bring this new knowledge back to the restaurants and better serve our guests.
New to the Menu: Clam Nachos!
Clam Ceviche Nachos have hit the menu! Served with bacon-pepper relish, fontina & jalapeño fonduta, this is an item you won’t want to miss. Available on our evening menu from 4 p.m to midnight.
Wine by the Glass at Canard
Our goal with the wine list at Canard is to share wines that are new and old to us. Some represent traditional and some innovative approaches. We aim to move outside of our comfort zone a little and try new things – at the end of the day we hope to pour you wines that excite you. Here are a few off the beaten path by the glass options we are pouring as we transition from Summer to Fall, and we hope to share them with you soon.
Brut Rosé (Blaufrankish), Kobal, ‘17, Styria, Slovenia
Playful tiny bubbles compliment the red fruit notes. Blaufrankish is considered to be a distant cousin of our trusty Pinot Noir grape. While drinking this at the beginning of a meal is common, we encourage you to enjoy this with a main course, short ribs please.
Bogdanjuša, Caric, ‘16, Island of Hvar, Dalmatian Coast, Croatia
You may have heard that Croatia has a gorgeous coastline and beautiful beaches. You can think of that as you sip on this wine. Fresh as it gets; sea air, brininess and medium weight, perfect for a late summer/early fall day.
Ribolla Gialla, Rebula, Kabaj, ‘14, Goriška Brda, Slovenia
Our skin contact, or orange wine, selection by the glass will often showcase the bold side of possibility with this technique. With this wine you’ll find lots of texture and depth. Fruit and spice stand out in this uniquely beautiful balanced wine.
