Gather with wine pros and lovers alike for a monthly in-depth exploration of wine regions and styles from around the world. Designed for all levels of wine knowledge to learn more, SE Wine Collective founders Kate Norris and Tom Monroe are excited to explore unique regions, traditions, and collections of wines throughout 2018. The series will kick off on Wednesday, March 21st, with a dive into the New California. Join in for a guided trip through California’s best and brightest winemakers of the New California frontier, including wines from Forlorn Hope, Mathiasson, and Pax Mahle.
Modeled after the focused gatherings that have long been attended and used by wine professionals around the world to learn about regions, styles, and varietals by pooling resources and knowledge among peers, each monthly Tasting Group session offers an intimate and in-depth technical tasting with limited seating (and guaranteed fun!). Inspired by their past tasting group experiences with other wine industry professionals, SE Wine Collective founders Kate Norris and Thomas Monroe chose to create a group open to the community that features wine regions, styles, and varieties from around the world from the Best of Oregon (not Pinot Noir), to Piedmont to NW Cabs. Past themes have included wines from the Jura, Beaujolais, to coveted vintage Oregon Pinot Noir, as well as book signing & tastings featuring some of the world’s most well-known wine writers like Alice Feiring and Katherine Cole. Join Norris, Monroe, and guest experts as they conduct intimate in-depth technical tastings on a specific topic each month. Guests can expect a fun atmosphere where they discuss each glass among fellow guests and the experts.

Kate Norris and Thomas Monroe, of Division Winemaking Company, founded the Southeast Wine Collective in 2012 in response to their personal interest in creating a unique multi-faceted urban winery, coupled with increasing public interest in the urban wine movement. The pioneering urban winery brings together like-minded wineries who are sustainably growing their businesses by offering a venue for commercial custom crush wine production, tastings and events in the bustling area of SE Portland, and is also home to Oui! Wine Bar + Restaurant. Currently 20 varieties of grapes are vinified at the Collective ranging from Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc to less common Oregon and US produced varieties such as Gamay Noir, Pinot Meunier, Chenin Blanc, and Nebbiolo. The wine bar and restaurant, Oui!, features pours, flights, glasses and bottles from all 12 Collective members plus an extensive list of global wines that inspire the makers, along with draft beer, wines on tap, 2 Wine Clubs, and a creative and seasonal food menu by chef Althea Grey Potter.
