Samish Bay is owned and operated by Suzanne and Roger Wechsler. They farm 200 acres in the beautiful Skagit Valley in Northwest Washington. The dairy herd is primarily Milking Shorthorn cows; some are crossed with Jersey, Holstein, or Dutch Belted. 100% Organic and grass fed, the herd is spoiled by the lush grasses of the valley which in turn make excellent fresh cheeses.
Please come by the shop for a taste. You won’t regret it!
This wine is bursting with fresh fruit and a hint of sweetness (it is a dry white, with about 0.2% residual sugar). Asian pear, grapefruit, and a slight sense of minerality are just some of the players in this wine’s aroma and flavor; it is bright and young without being simple.
2013 Enso Rose, Cab Sauv/Malbec/Cab Franc/Merlot/Grenache/Syrah/Mourvedre, Walla Walla, WA
- This is a beautifully fruity-but dry-pink wine! It is aged on the lees for about 6 months to enhance the mid-palate mouthfeel. The result is a nuanced sense of sweetness without actually having any residual sugar.
2012 Enso Red, Cab Sauv/ Tempranillo/Grenache/Syrah, Walla Walla, WA
- ENSO red blends tend to be a bit…unconventional. In this one, broody and tannic Cabernet Sauvignon is tempered with soft Tempranillo. Then they added a dash of Syrah and Grenache to enhance the
fruitiness and spice. Before these wines were
combined, they were fermented separately in open-top bins and then pressed off into used French
oak barrels where they spent about 18 months.
This is an amazing midweek wine – heck, an amazing weekend wine at a midweek price!
Portland Sangria-A lightly-carbonated blend of dry rosé wine, northwest berry juice and regionally made spice.
- What began as a local experiment in ENSO’s Tasting Lounge has become a huge retail success!
Sangria is usually a way to move soured red wine, but in this case, they use fruity rosé wine as a base. Then they add a juice blend of blueberries,
loganberries and raspberries…all northwest grown. And to finish it off, they add a mild spice mixture to give it a pop of aromatics! Lightly-carbonated and intended to be served chilled or over frozen berries.
As usual the tasting is complimentary, and wines will be discounted Thursday only!
