Salt & Straw captures the nostalgia of summertime memories with flavors like Campfire S’mores, Buttermilk Pancakes, Bacon & Eggs, and Mushroom Muddy Buddies
PORTLAND, Ore. (May 17, 2019) – Salt & Straw Ice Cream celebrates the great outdoors this June with their month-long Camping Series. Inspired by memories of the quintessential summer experience and breathtaking scenery, the series is all about encouraging people to get outside and experience nature together. Partnering with Oregon-based maker Pendleton Woolen Mills, the Camping Series will raise funds for national parks through a limited edition collection of Pendleton-themed Salt & Straw Ice Cream pints and scoops. Pendleton and Salt & Straw are proud to support the work of the National Park Foundation, the official charity of America’s national parks.
“This camping series dives right into our memories from childhood, all piled in a van, spending our summer nights around the campfire with friends and family,” said Salt & Straw’s CEO and Co-Founder, Kim Malek. “Mother Nature seems to bring out our best selves and so we are proud to support the work of the National Parks Foundation with this series. Our parks are such a treasure and great reminder of what’s most important.”
Classic campground eats have been reimagined with wild ingredients and inspiration pulled from summer road trips, including the conifer-cordoned highways of Oregon. Salt & Straw invites you to disconnect, return to basics, and remember the beauty and abundance of the West Coast wilderness.
The Camping Series ice creams are available by the scoop, flight or pint at all Salt & Straw scoop shops, beginning Friday, May 24th through Thursday, June 27th, 2019. Ice creams are available for nationwide shipping through Salt & Straw’s website www.saltandstraw.com. Experience the newest Salt & Straw ice creams before anyone else with a delivery right to your doorstep through the Salt & Straw Pints Club, offering an ongoing subscription of the latest seasonal flavors.
June Camping Series
For RV campers, glampers, and backcountry fastpackers alike, we present our nostalgic-station-wagon- camping-meets-thoughtful- foraged-ingredients series. Best scenario: These reimagined classic campground flavors prove delectable and inspire action. Modern life affords mere days to disconnect and explore nature. So please take our ice cream outside, party in the woods or on the beach, and get wondrously lost.
Campfire S’mores
Find a conifer-cordoned hideaway in our extra chocolatey, woodsy ice cream, the crackle and pop of the fire via graham cracker pop rock crunch, and that pervasive smokiness in toasted marshmallow fluff.
Buttermilk Pancakes, Bacon & Eggs
The breakfast of camp-ions! Emerge from your tent with addictive maple pralined bacon bites and rich, sunny-side caramel strewn about a custardy, buttery griddled-pancake ice cream.
Mushroom Muddy Buddies
Picture that ubiquitous baggie of peanut butter- and chocolate-coated Chex, but with hazelnuts. Sprinkle those in an amazingly rich, earthy ice cream of mushrooms candied in honey, butter, and sherry.
Berries, Beans, & BBQ Sauce (v)
Picturing a kettle of baked beans suspended over an open fire, we married warm and molasses-y baked bean ganache, tangy strawberry bbq sauce, and a dairy-free raspberry + black raspberry ice cream.
Spruce Tips & Huckleberry Crisp
Like a campfire crisp cooked under the shelter of Oregon pines, we made foraged spruce tip ice cream layered with housemade huckleberry jam and golden-brown hazelnut crumble.
