June 3, 2015 (Portland, OR) – In celebration of National Donut Day this Friday, Portland creative agency Roundhouse is going donut-to-doughnut in the first Donut Deathmatch. This competition will pit Portland’s top donut-makers against each other in a company-wide taste test. The competition can be followed on Instagram and Twitter via the #DonutDeathMatch.
On Friday, June 5, more than 70 Roundhouse employees will get to taste donuts from seven Portland shop, including Blue Star Donuts, Pip’s Original, Voodoo Doughnut, Tulip Pastry Shop, Helen Bernhard Bakery, Tonalli’s Donuts & Cream and Delicious Donuts. Using a scorecard, they will rate each donut on several factors: Taste, Texture and Swagger.
The results will be tallied at the end of the day and one donut will be proclaimed the Donut Deathmatch Champion. The donut-maker will receive a custom-designed award from Roundhouse.
“Like the rest of Portland, we love donuts here at Roundhouse and are excited to pit Rose City’s top donut-makers against each other with the first Donut Deathmatch,” said Joe Sundby, Roundhouse executive creative director and founder. “It will be a challenge to sample so many donuts in one day, but National Donut Day only comes once a year, and we’re committed to crowning Portland’s inaugural Donut Deathmatch Champ.”
