Riesling Month is here again!
Greetings! Last year we celebrated the wonderful Riesling grape throughout the month of August and we had so much fun we decided to do it again! We have an amazing selection of dry Riesling to delight you all month, so pick your pleasure!
Join us on Tuesday, August 15th at 6pm in the Café for a winemaker dinner with Oregon’s own Ovum Wines. According to our sommelier Brent, Ovum is Oregon’s best producer of dry Riesling. The winemakers say of their wines: “Our low intervention production method is a commitment to letting the vintage and vineyard come through, for better or worse.” This will be a delightful three course meal featuring Oregon albacore, schnitzel with summer tomatoes, and finishing with a polenta cake with fresh peaches! Meet John House the winemaker and enjoy cool Riesling on a warm summer’s evening! The dinner is $75 per person and includes food, wine, and gratuity. Please call the Café (503-231-9959) to book your seat!
Meanwhile for the rest of the month in the Café you can try a couple of Brent’s favorite Rieslings at a special glass price. The first two weeks we are treating you to a selection of German Riesling from three different regions- the Mosel, the Ruwer, and the Saar. The second half of the month we are showcasing Oregon’s Riesling including a pour from Ovum Wines – so if you can’t make the dinner on the 15th, you can still treat yourself to Oregon’s best Riesling at the Café! What better way to beat this heat than with a little Riesling!
You can find Riesling on the Restaurant side with a special wine pairing for our tasting menu. We will be pouring a selection of Riesling from around the world including some rare older vintage wines. (1990! 2002!) We are only offering this pairing for the last two weeks in August so make sure to book ahead- it’s a great way to explore the diversity of Riesling.
