October is American Cheese Month! Established by the American Cheese Society, this month is a celebration of the quality and diversity of American artisan cheese. In celebration we will be highlight a different American cheese each week! This week we would like to tell you about Red Rock from Roelli Cheese Haus. Chris Roelli is a fourth generation cheesemaker from Shullsburg, Wisconsin. Roelli created Red Rock, cheddar blue cheese in 2011. Scott Paul Wines is a local artisan winery based in Carlton, Oregon. They primarily focus on creating elegant wines from sustainably farmed Pinot Noir, however they do make a lovely selection from other grape varietals as well. Kristen from Scott Paul Wines will be pouring for us this Thursday evening, from 5:30 to 7:30. Here’s this week’s lineup:
Wildstock, Pinot Blanc, 2015, Willamette Valley
Aromas of white peach and pears compliment this dry white wine’s litchi and grape fruit notes. Pleasant acid and delicate minerality create a sophisticated white wine perfect for fall weather.
Scott Paul, “La Paulée,” Pinot Noir, 2014, Willamette Valley
100% Pinot Noir sourced from vineyards in the Dundee Hills, Ribbon Ridge, and Chehalem Mountains. This Pinot has notes of red berries, rose, and spice. A perfect example of Oregon Pinot Noir.
Scott Paul, Gamay Noir, 2016, Willamette Valley
Dusty brick red in color. This lovely wine is made from 100% Gamay Noir. Aromas of nutmeg and dry violets on the nose. On the palate you will find notes of cranberry and supple tannins.
