Monday Aug 21 Eclipse Brunch will arrive just before the Vaux Swifts descend on Northwest Portland
Unsure where all the resident Portlanders will be standing for the upcoming Solar Eclipse, Rae’s has decided to do what they usually do in times of uncertainty: throw a Monday Brunch. Fueled by their famous $1 Mimosas and a huge lack of southbound traffic, Rae’s will be open early on Monday 21 August for their landmark Brunch menu until 2pm.
“Are folks really going to be at work that Monday?” asked owner/chef Todd Morey, creator of Rae’s food, drink, style and approach. “Perhaps a once in a lifetime astrological event, with untold thousands of extra people flooding into the Cascade corridor—but there’s a whole city full of people who aren’t going to roadtrip south to the Line of Totality, or probably anywhere outside the Trimet boundaries.”
Another one of Rae’s new weekend burgers that has been turning heads during the summer months is their distinctive Brunch Burger, one of two new burgers offered only during Weekend Brunch. The Brunch Burger is a hand-formed beef patty flame-grilled to order with crumbled bacon and house-made hollandaise sauce, with sharp cheddar, crispy shallots, baby spinach and hot house tomato on a toasted
The end of August also brings the annual return of Northwest Portland’s favorite flock of birds, the Vaux Swifts, who will be stopping for several weeks at the Chapman School smokestack, fresh in from Venezuela. As usual, Rae’s Lakeview Lounge will be the Swift command
post of Northwest, situated on NW 27th, just a few blocks from the soccer field at Chapman. Open seven days a week for Happy Hour before the dusk aerials, Rae’s is also open for Dinnertime after the nightly phenomena.
