With the Swifts and a Brutal Summer Behind Them, Rae’s Welcomes the Rain with Autumn Dinner Menu
Rae’s Lakeview Lounge received a few major nods this summer, despite the hardship of double heat waves and smokestorms during August and September. Over the summer, Rae’s was spotlighted by Eater Portland, Fox 12 News, and Willamette Week for being one of Northwest’s best for drinking and dining.
In July, Eater called out Rae’s as “Northwest Portland’s most underrated restaurant” on their map of Where To Eat in Northwest Portland, ranked alongside such NW institutions as Ringside, St. Jack and Escape From New York Pizza.
KPTV Fox 12 News featured Rae’s as a local business famously open during August’s big eclipse, when Rae’s opened early for a special Monday Brunch and poured $1 mimosas to brunchers wearing eclipse glasses.
Last month, calling it a “day-drinking institution,” Willamette Week’s annual Guide to Portland magazine, Finder, singled out Rae’s as their top drinking pick of the Thurman/Forest Park neighborhood. “Home to one of the city’s best happy hours,” Finder described Rae’s as feeling like a decades-old, neighborhood icon.
“These accolades have been so bright after such a rough summer,” said owner/chef Todd Morey, creator of Rae’s food, drink, style and approach. “We couldn’t be happier, seeing a little rain come down and getting Fall started.”
Rae’s has just launched their Autumn Dinnertime menu this week with seasonal favorites such as their Pork Osso Buco and Sausage & Kraut. Mussels Thurman also joins the dinner lineup: Fresh Northwestern mussels poached French-style in a flavorful, white wine reduction with shallots and crumbled bacon, finished with a touch of whole cream. Dinner served daily, 6pm to 9pm.
