Q Restaurant & Bar Launches New Farmer Dinner Series

Q Restaurant & Bar Launches New Farmer Dinner Series on February 24, with Patrick Thiel of Prairie Creek Farms

Chef Annie Cuggino partners with longtime local farmers for intimate farmer dinner series

PORTLAND, Ore. (February 15, 2017) –  Q Restaurant & Bar announces new Farmer Dinner Series to highlight longtime local farmer partners, purveyors, and friends of the restaurant. Q regularly works with local farmers to supply the hyper-seasonal produce for their daily changing menu of eclectic dishes. The series will shine a spotlight on the local farmers and friends of Q that have worked with executive chef Annie Cuggino throughout her 22-year-long career in Portland. Chef Cuggino has even been known to take her staff on field trips to farms to learn about ingredients from the source.

To kickoff the Farmer Dinner Series, Q Restaurant & Bar will welcome Patrick Thiel of Prairie Creek Farms on Friday, February 24th. Prairie Creek Farms, located in Joseph, Oregon, has long provided chef Cuggino with quinoa, garlic, and potatoes. The farm was started by Patrick’s father, Gene Thiel, one of the early champions of the organic farming movement through his involvement with organizations like Oregon Tilth and Slow Food. Gene became a fixture at the PSU Saturday farmer’s market, and Prairie Creek is one of the longest-running stalls at the market. Patrick continues his father’s legacy of stewardship by sustainably farming and foraging for some of Oregon’s most highly coveted produce, supplying Portland households and top restaurants alike. Chef Cuggino will be preparing a special five-course menu highlighting seasonal ingredients from Prairie Creek Farms and Patrick Thiel will be present to discuss the farm’s history, growing methods, and crops.

Join Patrick Thiel for dinner at a communal table for twelve people, as he shares stories, history, and farming techniques about the food grown and harvested for the evening’s meal. Chef Cuggino will prepare a special five-course menu that will highlight the produce from Prairie Creek farm. Wine director Amanda Winquist will also select wine pairings for each of the five courses. Wine pairings will be an optional purchase for guests. The evening will launch the Farmer Dinner Series offering an in-depth exploration of local farms, the people who grow the food there, and how Q Restaurant & Bar uses the ingredients in a variety of creative and delicious methods.

About Q Restaurant & Bar
Q Restaurant & Bar opened in downtown Portland in November 2016. The restaurant is led by executive chef Annie Cuggino and boasts creative, hyper-seasonal specials made from scratch, utilizing ingredients from local farmers and ranchers. The menu features Pacific Northwest flavors and showcases Cuggino’s cooking style which blends her experience in the country’s finest restaurants, with farm-fresh northwest ingredients and an emphasis on vegetables. After building an impressive resume, including a degree from the Culinary Institute of America at Hyde Park and experience in the kitchens of Danny Meyer’s Union Square Cafe in New York and Emeril’s in New Orleans, Cuggino joined the team at Portland’s Veritable Quandary 22 years ago as executive chef. Her cooking is a true dedication to seasonality, embodying the spirit of Portland, sourcing from the same farmers in Oregon and Washington for over the past two decades. At Q Restaurant & Bar, Cuggino presides over an expansive open kitchen and chef’s counter with 7 seats, providing a front row seat to the excitement in the kitchen. The bustling and inviting downtown destination will be open daily, serving lunch, dinner, brunch, and a full bar menu. Q is led by a warm, friendly, and seasoned team passionate about providing exemplary hospitality, and a one of a kind Portland dining experience. Cuggino along with general manager Erin Hokland and owners, Mazen and Katherine Hariri, together are excited to start a brand new chapter in Portland’s dining history. In 2016, 1859 Magazine named Q as one of the Hottest New Portland Restaurants. In 2017 Eater Portland named Q as one of the Hottest New Cocktail Bars in Portland. Q is located at 828 SW 2nd Avenue, Portland, OR 97204. For more information, visit http://q-portland.com/. Follow Q on Twitter @Q_Portland, Instagram @Q_Portland, and Facebook Q Portland.

If anything like their first location it will be the best coffee in the Beaverton/Hillsboro area. Original location is on SW SchollsFerry Road. Even better, it’s next door to Big’s Chicken.
