Calçotada

A Catalan Springtime Celebration

Spanish Calçotada with Flâneur Wines + MÅURICE

We’ll be opening up ticket sales to the public tomorrow, but today we’re offering our mailing list friends the opportunity to scoop them up first!

What is a Calçotada? Just one of our favorite things ever. It is a Spanish springtime tradition in Catalonia, where entire villages make a day of feasting on spring onions grilled over the flames, dragging them through romesco or salbitxata sauce, and eating them by hand with great gusto.

Calçots are now coming into their short season, so the time is now! We’re thrilled to be teaming up with Flâneur Wines and Kristen Murray of MÅURICE for an evening of fire, food and revelry in Flâneur’s picturesque La Belle Promenade Vineyard in the Chehalem Mountains.

You’ll begin with a Chardonnay reception, paired with freshly shucked oysters and hand-sliced ham, as you watch Viridian Farms calçots and asparagus roasting over the open flames. After feasting on these glorious vegetables, charred until smoky and sweet, we’ll enjoy big steamy pans of clam, chorizo and white bean stew, a gorgeous spring salad and crusty bread, all expertly paired with Flâneur Wines. For a sweet finish, a Tarte au Riz by the divine Kristen Murray.
