Portland’s Amaterra Winery Announces General Manager, Chef and Opening Date

Amaterra Winery Sharpens Vision With Announcement of Leadership Positions

With the addition of Jeff Brown and Jami Flatt, Portland’s newest winery shares official opening date: Jan. 12, 2022

Portland, Ore. (Dec. 14, 2021) – With the addition of restaurant and events general manager Jeff Brown and executive chef Jami Flatt to its team, Portland’s Amaterra Winery now has two leading experts in hospitality and culinary leadership. This announcement comes in tandem with an official opening date: Jan. 12, 2022.

“We could not be more thrilled to have both Jeff and Jami join our team,” said Marcus Breuer, CEO of Amaterra. “Starting early next year, our winery will be a gathering place for so many celebrations and memories, facilitated by top-notch management and the best gourmet cuisine.”

Those visiting and dining at Portland’s newest winery will have the opportunity to experience the team’s commitment and stewardship of resources, as well as unique dining options with delicious, seasonal cuisine inspired by the fresh and local ingredients of Oregon.

“Jeff has already proven to be an excellent leader with a great track record of motivating staff, and Jami is certainly a powerhouse of a chef with a celebrated resume in the Pacific Northwest,” said Werner Nistler, Jr., co-founder of Amaterra. “Each brings such valuable skill sets, making Amaterra the region’s wine and culinary destination.”

Jeff Brown is the general manager, restaurant and events for Amaterra, where he is committed to driving innovation and preserving the human element of hospitality. Most recently, Jeff served as general manager of food and beverage for Sage Restaurant Group, where he oversaw Urban Farmer and Departure Restaurant and Lounge at The Nines Hotel in downtown Portland.

“I am beyond excited to have the opportunity to manage this venue and lead a team of highly-qualified individuals,” said Brown. “It’s such a passion of mine to be able to motivate staff to create the most innovative results.”

Jami Flatt is the executive chef at Amaterra, where he brings 20 years of professional cooking and kitchen leadership experience to his role. Recently, he was executive sous chef for both Urban Farmer and Departure Restaurant and Lounge. Jami’s menus exemplify his continuous search for high-quality, seasonal, locally grown food, and his profound respect for farmers remains evident throughout his practice

“Food has a unique way of bringing people together and fostering a sense of family and friendship,” said Flatt. “I am eager to continue building on my relationships with farmers and friends of the past, as well as cultivating new bonds with the people who work so hard to grow, raise and nurture our food that we have yet to meet.”

Located at 8150 SW Swede Hill Dr., Amaterra is a private winery, vineyard and club, and guests will need to be accompanied by at least one member. Social memberships are available when guests make their first reservation on the Amaterra website, and there is a one-time $25 fee. This membership fee can be applied toward the purchase of two or more bottles of wine, or to the first wine shipment if the guest chooses to join the wine club at either the Terroir, Belle Vue or Le Champ levels. Wine club memberships can be secured in-person or on the Amaterra website.

Amaterra will be open Wednesday through Sunday for wine tasting and dinner reservations. On Mondays and Tuesdays, Amaterra will be open for wine tasting by appointment only. Reservations can be made on Amaterra’s website starting Jan. 10: AmaterraWines.com.
