FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Plaza del Toro, a gastronomic society, private event space, and modern test kitchen created by celebrated restaurateur John Gorham, will open in Southeast Industrial District in Portland, Oregon at 105 S.E. Taylor St., with an Open House Launch Party on Friday, April 17th, 2015 from 7pm-10pm. The launch party will be open to the public to explore the new space, plus enjoy bites from the four Gorham restaurant menus, a cash bar, and DJ Waffle spinning records.
The premier dinner event for Plaza del Toro will be a very special night of food and drink on Saturday, April 18th at 6:30pm with winemaker John Paul of Cameron Winery. This 12-course collaborative dinner is a rare opportunity to taste a vertical of ten vintages of Abbey Ridge Pinot Noir in Magnums from John Paul’s personal library. Formal attire is requested. Tickets are $175 all inclusive.
The next Plaza del Toro dinner event will be a family-style Spanish meal on Friday, April 24th at 7:30pm showcasing the new release wines of Cellars Joan d’Anguera. Special guests Joan and Josep d’Anguera, owners, viticulturists, and winemakers, will be visiting from their natural and biodynamic estate in the town of Darmos, in the Montsant DO in Spain. Hosted by Holly Wing of De Maison Selections, tickets are $60 all inclusive.

Starting in May, Gorham will kick off a unique prix-fixe brunch series at Plaza del Toro called Sunday Service featuring pastries, oysters, plenty of champagne and live and DJ’d music. More Plaza del Toro upcoming events include wine focused dinners, musical events, and monthly craftsman days with food and wine featuring all of the talented furniture makers and artisans who have helped build Gorham’s restaurant.
The Art Deco-inspired, renovated industrial 4,000 square-foot space can accommodate events of all kinds, from large-scale seated dinners for 100 guests and standing cocktail parties for 150, to more intimate occasions. The space features a professional DJ booth, presentation equipment, a mobile oyster bar, and modular tables to allow for a customizable floor plan based on the needs of your event. Plaza del Toro also employs a full-time Director of Affairs, Kristen Koors, to ensure every event is a success. The impressive kitchen also serves as a home base for the Gorham restaurants’ new Pastry Chef Carrie Merrill who has helped expand the distinctive dessert programs at the four properties. In addition to an extraordinary kitchen, Plaza del Toro offers a full bar, including a cocktail list and extensive wine list comprised of highlights from the beverage menus of the four other Gorham properties.
