OREGON RESTAURANTS, MUSICIANS AND 42 SPONSORS LEND THEIR SUPPORT TO CHILDREN’S CANCER AWARENESS DAY ON AUGUST 1ST
Troutdale, Oregon, June 1, 2015 – Fred Meyer has joined forces with 41 of the leading businesses in Oregon and the non-profit Soulful Giving Foundation to create the hottest event in East County. Ticketholders will have the opportunity to listen to live music, sample food from 18 restaurants, shop from 35 talented artists and vendors, taste outstanding Oregon wines, Widmer beer and original cocktails, and participate in a champagne/jewelry raffle and an amazing silent auction. Free shuttle service will be provided from Mt. Hood Community College and 2 “Soul Buses” will be transporting guests from a designated parking area near the Portland Crowne Plaza to the Yoshida’s private estate.
Spread your blankets and sand chairs under canopies and shady fir trees on Saturday, August 1st, from 11:30am – 8:30pm and enjoy a fun-filled day along the scenic Sandy River in Troutdale, Oregon. This is the 5th annual “21 and over” Soulful Giving Blanket Concert benefiting Randall Children’s Hospital and Providence Cancer Center with Pete Ferryman and Andy Carson of Good Day Oregon KPTV Fox-12 presiding as co-emcees. This year, 3,000 lucky ticketholders will be celebrating life while dancing to the energetic and soulful sounds of Patrick Lamb, the Paul Creighton Band, Ants in the Kitchen and the Portland Soul All-Stars.
Participating restaurants include: El Gaucho, Morton’s, Urban Fondue, Brix Tavern, Swank & Swine, Bumper’s Grill & Bar, La Bamba, Tree’s Catering, No Ka Oi Catering, Thai Peacock, Hokusei, Gilda’s, Nicholas, Thirst on the Waterfront, Enzo’s, Pink Rose, and the Riverview. As an additional treat, Man-with-a-pan chef Mark Staggs will be showcasing his talent by creating blazing calamari, and assorted beverages will be available from Fred Meyer, the Craft Brewers Alliance, Crater Lake Soda, Bendistillery, K&F Coffee, Sake One, and Earth2o.
With cancer being the leading fatal disease among children in the U.S., this year’s event will benefit the pediatric cancer unit at Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel as well as the Providence Cancer Center. To honor the dedication of medical teams in this field, Governor Kate Brown has issued an official proclamation designating August 1st as Oregon Children’s Cancer Awareness Day. Although cure rates are increasing, close to 35% of children diagnosed with cancer will not survive and there has been an increase in cancer over the past 20 years. Doctors and scientists studying and identifying the causes and cures of childhood cancers need the public’s assistance to support advances in treatment. With this in mind, the Soulful Giving Foundation encourages guests to make a difference in the lives of children and families residing in Oregon State.
Tickets are now available on line at www.soulfulgiving.org. General admission is $25; Premium tickets (which include food & beverage tokens) are $50, and $100 VIP tickets include tokens, limo service, champagne, VIP seating and a commemorative gift. Parking is provided at MHCC. Downtown & Westside ticketholders can catch one of the Cascadia Cruiser “Soul Buses” from the Crowne Plaza Hotel parking lot in downtown Portland for only $1 and will in turn receive a complimentary beer.
