Oregon Fruit to Launch Second Feast Donation Match Campaign in July

June 19, 2017 by Food Dude

Oregon Fruit Products Partners with Feast Portland for Second Annual Donation Match Campaign Benefiting Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon

10-Day #MatchWithFeast Challenge Raises Funds for School Breakfasts and Summer Meals

June 19, 2017 – SALEM, Ore. – Oregon Fruit Products, in its sponsorship with Bon Appétit Presents Feast Portland, will kick off its second annual donation campaign Monday, July 17 and run through Wednesday, July 26, to support the event’s nonprofit beneficiary, Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon. During the 10-day campaign, Oregon Fruit will match any donation up to the first $5,000, thereby doubling the impact of each donation.

Oregon has one of the highest rates of child food insecurity, with one in four kids facing hunger every day. The funds raised from the #MatchWithFeast Challenge will help connect kids to school breakfasts and summer meals, so that Oregon children have access to nourishing food all year round.

“We were delighted and surprised by how rapidly we reached the $5,000 match goal last year,” said Chris Sarles, CEO of Oregon Fruit Products. “So this year we decided to throw our net as wide as we can and see if we can make a much more significant impact with the campaign. I’m pleased and thankful to say that Willamette Valley Vineyards, Pavelcomm and Columbia Distributing have already joined the effort, so I’m optimistic that we can exceed last year’s results.”

“Feast is proud to collaborate with such a community-minded partner like Oregon Fruit Products to help fight childhood hunger in Oregon,” said Mike Thelin, co-founder of Feast Portland.

“Connecting our kids to programs like school breakfast and summer meals prevents hunger and helps kids stay healthy and succeed in school. With the support of donors, we can make sure all Oregon kids have the food they need to thrive,” said Annie Kirschner, executive director of Partners for a Hunger-Oregon.

All donations, large or small, will be accepted and matched dollar-for-dollar up to $5,000 from Oregon Fruit Products starting Monday, July 17 on the Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon Feast donation page, oregonhunger.org/matchwithfeast. Additionally, everyone is encouraged to help spread the word by using the hashtag #MatchWithFeast on all social media platforms.
