Oregon City Farmers Market – Our Seed Swap Has Returned!

March 17, 2022

Join us for the return of our market’s Seed Swap!

While most of our programs have been on hold during the pandemic, we are cautiously bringing some back in order to serve and build our community. This Saturday you will see the return of our Seed Swap. While it will be offered in a smaller, modified fashion, we encourage you to gather your extra seeds and bring them to the market. Swap them out, plus add new ones to your repertoire. We are collaborating with Master Gardeners who will be on site to help with gardening questions.
While you’re at it, Jerry from Sawdusters will be here and it’s a perfect time to pick out a new bird feeder for our feathered friends!

POP Club will also have a planting activity thanks to OSU Extension Services “Grow it!” challenge. Children will have the opportunity to learn about Microgreens this week. Have you signed your children up? Kids aged 5-12 can join by filling out one of our Passports to Health. Get a free tote bag plus collect 3.00 in tokens to use for fresh produce or veggie plant starts.

What’s in season this week?
Farms, such as RJ’s, will offer plenty of broccoli and cauliflower while Sun Love and Brown Bottle will have lots of fresh leafy greens. You can find hearty root crops, purple sprouting broccoli and winter squash at Storybook Farm while Canby Farm and Kitchen will have delicious brussel sprouts. Mindful Mushrooms will have a large assortment of protein dense mushrooms and don’t forget microgreens from Mulino Microgreens for a nutrition boost to your meals.

Summer market starts on May 7th (just in time for Mother’s Day on the 8th) and we have a great line up of vendors, scheduled music and some interactive POP activities. Our summer bookmarks have arrived so plan on stopping by the info booth to get yours! Pick up some extra to share with friends and family, too!

The market could use your help! We wouldn’t be able to operate without the dedication of our volunteers and as summer approaches we are in need of additional help! Would you consider joining us? If you love local food systems and supporting farms, the market is the place for you!
We have needs in all of our market operations from helping to set up and take down the market, working our Information Booth to assist customers or helping with our Power of Produce Club! We have included a handy link for signups down below in our newsletter.

Find us this week from 10-2 at our usual spot, 2051 Kaen Rd (at the corner of Beavercreek and Kaen Roads) right here in Oregon City.

See you at the market!
