We’re taking over Slappy Cakes on Earth Day for a fun night of cooking to benefit nonprofit Growing Gardens. In our spin on the cook-your-own pancake model, guests will learn how to make a giant cabbage and noodle-loaded pancake known as okonomiyaki with your choice of toppings including pork belly. Attendees will munch on farm-direct veggies with miso dip and popcorn with a Japanese twist while watching a brief cooking demonstration, then try their hands using Slappy Cakes’ signature tabletop griddles.
Local farmers will be among the eaters trying their hand at the griddle and sharing their stories throughout the meal. Dinner will end with refreshing Japanese shaved ice.
Join us for a night of fun and food that will help a wonderful Portland organization, Growing Gardens, to expand food equity in our city. Growing Gardens works to give every community member the knowledge and empowerment to grow their own food.
Tickets are $15 for kids ages 5 to 14 // $25 for adults. We’ll have two seatings: 5:30 (SOLD OUT) and 8:30. Free drinks for kids. Boozy drinks for sale on site, including SakeOne flights, Commons Brewery beer, and Jackalope Wine Cellars wine.
