Bring on the colors and flavors of Autumn!
We’re talking cinnamon, clove, winter squash, apples, brussels, biscuits, and simmering pots of soups & stews – it’s time to cook and enjoy some of the best dishes of the year!
OurVegan Iron Chef crew wishes you a fabulous pie season ahead, and while you’re contemplating what your first filling may be (our vote at the moment is ginger pear), do read on to see what else is in store for the voraciously vegan month ahead.
First up, we’ve got an exciting giveaway taking place on our Instagram, @veganironchef!
Hot off the press (thanks Penguin Random House!), we’ve got 2 shiny new copies of Minimalist Baker’s smashing namesake cookbook, Everyday Cooking, up for grabs. Go click + enter, whether you can make it or not!
This vegan cookbook club is all-ages and totally free. It’s all about sharing dishes + feedback from our first featured cookbook by local Portland author Dana Schultz. So, there’s a chance to win your own copy, borrow one from the local library, or even easier – check out Minimalist Baker’s blog for TONS of FREE recipes!
When + Where: Join us our first vegan cookbook club night on Friday, October 26, 6pm at People’s Co-op in SE Portland. More info + RSVP on veganironchef.org
The deadline to enter this giveaway is October 20, and you can find out more details on Insta @veganironchef.
Next up, we head for a double-doozy with #PDXVEGWEEK and the annual + positively immense Portland VegFest!
We are STOKED as can be to try out tons of half-price vegan options at both favorite spots and new-to-us establishments…a few of which are so intriguing they’ve got to be tried to be believed!
Mark your calendars: #PDXVEGWEEK is October 15-20…adjust your budget (and menu planning!) accordingly. See the full listing over at the Portland Mercury online. BTW, the header image stars Ichiza Kitchen’s Pompoko Ramen.
Plus! With VegFest upon us that very same weekend, October 20-21, be sure to stop by our VIC table and say “hey”!
Hear what we’re cooking up, including what events + ideas our long-running nonprofit has in store for the year ahead, volunteer opportunities, upcoming podcast guests (pssst, our last episode includes an rockin’ interview with Rosalind + Clayton of Snackrilege) and how YOU could totally help make vegan cook-offs OR your own podcast + more happen!
On top of that, BRAMI SNACKS has hooked us up with one heck of an awesome, protein-packed prize basket. So, one more reason to say “hey”.
VegFest runs all day long, and we are seeking a couple of more volunteers to help run our table inside the action-packed, sample-filled Exhibit Hall. Can you spare 2-4 hours on 10/20 or 10/21 to talk about how inspiring vegan food is?
In return for a volunteer shift, you are able to attend the rest of the day for free. Sweet. Email us by October 13 to sign up.
HEY! I’D LIKE TO VOLUNTEER! SAVE THE DATES:
October 15-20: #PDXVEGWEEK
October 20-21: Tabling at Portland VegFest!
October 26: Vegan Cookbook Club: Minimalist Baker’s Everyday Cooking
