Happy Harvest! Cider Riot! Harvest News
We’re very excited to have the wonderous smell of ripe apples in the building. We’ve currently got bins of Dabinett, Yarlington Mill, Harry Masters Jersey, Hereford Redstreak and Kingston Black waiting to be pressed. Saturday we’re off to Yamhill County for another round of picking. Those apples won’t be ready to drink until next fall, but the 2016 cider is getting bottled this month. We’ve started with Shaken Tree, a Yarlington Mill single varietal cider with just a touch of Porter’s Perfection. We fermented it with a native yeast we harvested at the White Oak cider farm in Yamhill County and had cultured at Imperial yeast, the result is the closest thing we’ve ever made to a true West Country farmhouse cider, caramel aroma and flavor with hints of smoke and just a touch of baking spice from the Porters Perfection dominate the flavor of this beauty.
And just wait… we have plenty more awesome traditional ciders to boast about. Kingston Black single varietal 2016 and 1763 Revolutionary West Country Cider 2016 vintage are both getting bottled next week.
We’ve assembled some of our favorite bittersweet and bittersharp ciders, plus some of the best from other cider producers around the country and we’re throwing a party to share them with you!
