August 27, 2019

Japanese Summer Pastime, the Noodle Luge, Slides into King Portland Farmers Market

Market visitors invited to grab some chopsticks and catch their lunch

Portland Farmers Market Noodle LugePortland, OR, August 27, 2019 – On Sunday, September 1, Portland Farmers Market and Umi Organic will bring the Noodle Luge, a tasty spin on an Olympic event, to the King Portland Farmers Market, creating delicious fun for the whole family.

Noodle Luge—or Nagashi Somen—is a popular summer pastime in Japan, especially with kids.

Armed with chopsticks and a bowl, participants line up along a bamboo flume to catch fresh Umi Organic ramen noodles as they flow past in a stream of water. Participants can then take the noodles they catch to a salad bar, hosted by the market, to add Hot Mama Salsa sauce and an assortment of fresh, local vegetables from market vendors.

Portland Farmers Market Noodle LugeMarket-goers of all ages are welcome to join in the challenge and enjoy its delicious reward.
