NICKY USA NOW OFFERING LOCALLY CAUGHT OREGON SEAFOOD AT WHOLESALE PRICES
Direct to consumer, paper products, and now seafood. 30-year-old artisan butcher and game meat purveyor Nicky USA expands business once again in a matter of months.
PORTLAND, Ore. (July 14, 2020) – For 30 years, Nicky USA supplied restaurants, chefs, and high-end grocery purveyors in the Pacific Northwest with high quality meats and specialty game. Now chefs and consumers alike have access to the Northwest’s premier seafood at wholesale prices through Nicky USA. “Seafood has been the fastest-growing new product launch for us and we’re so happy to bring the Oregon Coast to our friends around Seattle and Portland,” says Gerick Latham, Sustainability and Efficiency Director of Nicky USA. Thanks to a partnership with the Oregon Department of Agriculture and Bornstein Seafoods, Nicky USA now carries the following fresh frozen Oregon seafoods.

Since March 2020’s Coronavirus protective measures were put in place, Nicky USA has pivoted to meet both the needs of the public and keep their family-owned business afloat. Within a matter of days Nicky USA opened the Online Fire Sale, it’s first direct-to-consumer channel to offer wholesale prices on its inventory to the public. The Fire Sale evolved from a Facebook page and a Google Sheet into a native online ordering system on nickyusa.com, and now offers local pickup in Portland and Seattle, local delivery along I-5 from Portland to Eugene, and nationwide FedEx shipping.
Due to Nicky USA’s supply chain of local ranchers and small businesses, the artisan meat purveyor has been able to continue to provide a wide array of proteins at affordable prices for consumers. Now, consumers can even purchase pre-made boxes of uncooked meat at wholesale prices for a great value that will last multiple meals. When nationwide toilet paper shortages occurred, Nicky USA was able to supply a steady source of toilet paper and single-use napkins from a Pacific Northwest-based factory, to the community.

Now, Nicky USA has become an asset to the local fishing community by carrying locally sourced Oregon seafood. Oregon’s fishing fleet consists of independent, family businesses, many of which lost their market abruptly when restaurants and commercial establishments were forced to close down in March. “We want to make it easier for people to buy and prepare the local, fresh seafood that we are so fortunate to have in Oregon,” said Nancy Fitzpatrick, executive director of the Oregon Albacore Commission and Oregon Salmon Commission as quoted in the ODA Eat Oregon Seafood press release. “Since many of us are still preparing most of our meals at home, it’s a good time to try a new recipe or type of seafood you may not have eaten in the past. Not only will it benefit our fishing community, but seafood has tremendous health benefits for people looking to eat nutritious and delicious food at home.” Those interested in learning more about local seafood, tips on preservation, and delicious recipes from participating chefs can visit beav.es/EatOregonSeafood for more information. Nicky USA is proud to support the local economy by changing its own business model and adapting to the current needs of the community.

ABOUT BORNSTEIN SEAFOODS
Bornstein Seafoods has always been family-owned and that gives us the freedom to do whatever it takes to deliver the finest quality seafood. It is this independence that allows us to put our customers, employees, and the responsible treatment of our ocean resources first.
Myer A. Bornstein founded Bornstein Seafoods in 1934, during the Great Depression. The fledgling company cut its teeth in that rough and tumble time of give and take, eager to survive and make its mark in a world of turmoil and
adversity. Hard work, commitment, and slogans like “If you don’t trade with us, we both lose money!” were the order of the day.
Myer Jay Bornstein, known as “Jay” in the industry, took the helm from his father in 1980. Under Jay’s leadership the company expanded its presence throughout the West Coast—with processing capabilities and buying stations that stretch from South East Alaska through Canada, Washington, Oregon, and down to Northern California.
In 2010, Bornstein Seafoods passed leadership of the company to its third generation – Jay’s three sons Kyle, Colin and Andrew Bornstein. Together they plan to continue Bornstein’s growth initiatives by focusing on Quality, Productivity, Professionalism, and Teamwork with staff, fishing partners, and customers. Bornstein Seafoods remains one of the oldest corporations in the industry because of our commitment to this philosophy. Website: https://www.bornstein.com/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/
