New Ownership 3 Doors Down

November 21, 2019

RESTAURANT PARTNERS ACQUIRE ONE OF PORTLAND’S HIDDEN NEIGHBORHOOD GEMS

Chef Jason Stratton will Serve as Consulting Culinary Partner for Italian Café and Lounge

(Portland, OR)- Seattle colleagues Michael Galloway, Jeff Saulsbury, and Chef Jason Stratton announce their acquisition of beloved 3 Doors Down café and lounge located in Portland’s Hawthorne neighborhood. 3 Doors Down is located at 1429 SE 37th Avenue, a half-block north of Hawthorne Boulevard in southeast Portland.

Galloway has been business manager for three Cantinetta restaurants in Seattle and the newly opened Como restaurant in Kirkland. Prior, he was operator/owner of Spinasse and Artusi where he worked with Stratton.  Stratton comes to this project from mbar in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood.  He was executive chef at Spinasse and Artusi from 2009-2014. Stratton will serve as culinary consulting partner and will continue to reside in Seattle.  Saulsbury, a Portland native, previously worked with Galloway and Stratton in Seattle.

The intimate spot has been serving craveable dishes for the last 25 years delighting patrons with cherished favorites like signature pasta with vodka sauce, Caesar salad and banana cream pie. Says Galloway: “I spent many years living in Portland while running restaurants and clubs. I’m thrilled to be able to keep this treasured café a flourishing part of the neighborhood.”  For Stratton, it is a return to his Italian culinary roots, including handmade pasta. “There is something compelling to me about maintaining the traditions of Italian cuisine- to tell this layered story via dishes that people find comfortable and want to eat again and again,” he says. “Over time, I can lend my interpretation and further expand the food, wine and cocktail offerings. To own a piece of this history in Portland is exciting.”
