Hermanas de AMUCC Micro-Lot Pack, 2017 Holiday Blend, Bean-to-Bar Chocolate Collaboration
Groundwork’s Holiday Offerings Include Exemplary Special Reserve Holiday Blend, Collaboration Artisan Chocolate Bar, and AMUCC Female Farmers Association Two-Pack
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, November 28, 2017 – Groundwork Coffee Co., the USDA certified organic roasting company, announces their new 2017 holiday offerings, including their exemplary special reserve light roast 2017 Holiday Blend, a chocolate bar created in collaboration with Portland bean-to-bar Woodblock Chocolate company, and “Hermanas de AMUCC”, a one-of-a-kind two-pack of whole beans from sisters Argenis and Bertha Rosas’ micro-lots within the female coffee growers association in Colombia, AMUCC.
Groundwork’s 2017 Holiday Blend – Limited Reserve ($21.95 – Now Available): Every year, Groundwork composes a limited reserve organic Holiday Blend that evokes the spirit of winter — deep and lush with warming notes that satisfy and comfort on those chilly days. This year’s holiday blend profile boasts an earthy bold flavor with creamy notes of plum, clove, toffee, bergamot and clove. The flavor is rounded off with a sweet and dry finish, making it a delicious way to celebrate the season. The 2017 Holiday Blend Limited Reserve is now available for purchase for $21.95 in all Groundwork café locations and online.
Groundwork + Woodblock Chocolate Holiday Blend Bar Gift Pack ($26 – Launching December 1st): Bean-to-cup meets bean-to-bar with this special collaboration between Groundwork Coffee and Woodblock Chocolate. This limited edition holiday blend chocolate bar is a combination of cacao beans from Peru and Ecuador. There is a balance of floral and earthy notes that create a dynamic experience. Established in 2010, family-owned Woodblock Chocolate is one of the pioneers of the American craft chocolate making movement. Like Groundwork’s own obsessive dedication to sourcing the best and most sustainable organic coffee, finding the best cacao is paramount to Woodblock, and is based not only on the flavor profile of the bean but the sustainable process by which it was cultivated. This collaboration chocolate bar is available exclusively in Groundwork’s Portland cafés starting December 1st, sold as a gift pack along with a bag of Groundwork’s 2017 Holiday Blend for $26.
Hermanas de AMUCC Micro-Lot Two-Pack ($21.95 – Launching December 5th) Groundwork will launch a special two-pack of organic coffee called Hermanas de AMUCC, farmed by two sisters with micro-lots through AMUCC, a Fair Trade certified association of women in Cauca, Colombia that is built around the goal of empowering female coffee producers. The two 6 oz. bags of whole bean coffee in Hermanas de AMUCC come from sisters Argenis and Bertha Rosas, whose passion for growing truly fantastic coffee started during their childhood spent on coffee plantations and learning to care for each lot. Both sisters operate their own micro-lots, and have created two different coffees with unique qualities; Bertha Rosas’s coffee gives a creamy and sparkly yield, while Argenis Rosas’s coffee has more of a balanced, silky, and robust quality. These two talented growers are also the recipients of Groundwork’s Quality Award of $1 per pound for farmers who produce a truly exemplary micro-lot. Hermanas de AMUCC is Groundwork’s latest project with this incredible group of women, following their popular AMUCC Organic Single Origin roast and AMUCC Organic Single Origin Cold Brew launched earlier this year. The two-pack is $21.95 and will launch on Tuesday, December 5th at all Groundwork retail locations in Los Angeles and Portland and on Groundwork’s website.
These new 2017 holiday offerings join Groundwork’s impressive line of organic and meticulously sourced coffee and tea, as well as monthly and weekly Coffee Subscription and Tea Subscription services.
About Groundwork Coffee Co.:
For 27 years, Groundwork Coffee has been a homegrown coffee and tea destination, handcrafting the best beverages with the finest ingredients. Their borderline-obsessive commitment to each cup and every customer – in warm, inviting cafés that capture the flavor of their neighborhoods – is fundamental to their business. Groundwork rose from the sands of Venice Beach, CA as a rare and used bookstore that also sold coffee and tea, but as local demand grew they got out of the book business to roast full time. They were one of the first certified organic coffee roasters in California, are the largest organic coffee roaster in Los Angeles, and their sustainable relationship-based, organic coffee sourcing has set the industry standard, as did their solar-powered, low-emissions roasting technology. Today, Groundwork operates eight café locations throughout the Los Angeles area, distributes its coffees to more than 900 food service and grocery customers across the U.S., as well as a new roastery and cafés in Portland, Oregon to bring their mission and coffee to the Pacific Northwest.
