New Arrival Neal’s Yard Ogleshield /Hot Weather Wine Tasting/Burrata & House Stretched Mozzarella

August 29, 2019

New Arrival!!

Neal’s Yard Ogleshield

Our new arrival from Neal’s Yard Dairy is a unique result of opportunity and collaboration. Created by Jamie Montgomery of Montgomery Cheddar, the cheese was originally conceived to make use of Jersey cow’s milk that had at that point only been sold for drinking. Called Jersey Shield, the wheels developed a natural rind, until Neal’s Yard’s William Oglethorpe got his hands on it. Washing the cheese in a salt brine solution instead, Oglethorpe created the new savory yet sweet cheese we have today, and Montgomery honored his contribution with a new name; Ogleshield.
The only 100% Jersey cow’s milk cheese offered by Neal’s Yard, Ogleshield is a semi-soft cheese perfect for snacking or melting. Neal’s Yard website describes it best as, “a gentle but complex flavour: it can be deeply savoury, almost reminiscent of chicken broth and has a sweet and milky aroma.”
Neal’s Yard Dairy and their outstanding selection of British and Irish territorial cheeses is always well-represented in our case. Check out some of the other Neal’s Yard cheeses currently available!

This week we will be pouring three wines that are perfect for this HOT summer weather. We will be sharing a crisp and floral Sancerre, a perfectly quaffable rose, and a light refreshing Piedmontese red. Come down to the shop and pick out the perfect wine for sipping on these warm summer evenings.
Here’s this week’s lineup:
  • 2018 Andre Dezat et Fils, Sancerre, Loire Valley, France
  • 2018 Domaine de la Gravierette, Ju de Vie, Rose of Grenache and Syrah, Provence, France
