MEET CHAUNCI KING

Royalty Spirits was established in 2014, making Chaunci King the first Black woman to own a liquor company in the Pacific Northwest. Their Miru Pear Vodka first launched in 2015, followed by their Rex Rye Whiskey in 2017. In just a matter of 3 years Royalty Spirits has expanded into drink mixers and canned cocktails, with their products in over 100 liquor and grocery stores across Oregon.

King got her start as a bartender, and has now become a beverage pioneer in the Pacific Northwest. King is not only the owner of Royalty Spirits, but co-owner of The Joint, a CBD Juice and Smoothie bar based in Portland. As a single mother of two, King continues to set a precedent for up and coming BIPOC and women owned businesses, being recognized by Forbes Magazine as an exemplary spirits CEO. We are honored to host King for this special event and look forward to sharing her story with all of you!

ABOUT THE EVENT

We welcome members and guests to join us at the Library for this special Meet Your Maker event with Royalty Spirits founder, Chaunci King. King will share the story of their distillery and guide guests through a tasting of their Rex Rye Whiskey and Miru Pear Vodka!

The presentation will be followed by a cocktail class, with MWL veteran bartenders guiding guests through one stirred cocktail and one shaken cocktail using Royalty’s featured spirits. Cocktails will be accompanied by light bites from MWL chef, Robert Kelly, and each guest will go home with a surprise gift from Royalty Spirits! Given the nature of the event all seating will be communal.

We are continuing to follow safety guidelines and ask all attendees to provide proof of vaccination with a valid ID at check in.

We look forward to hosting you!
