Marqués de Murrieta Dinner at Xico
Monday, April 24th Xico will host Joao Machete of Marqués de Murrieta Winery for an evening of special wine and delicious food. A few seats are left and we would love to have you! Please call 503-548-6343 to reserve your seats.
Mr. Machete will host, describing each wine as the meal is served, walking us through this selection of legendary wines from one of the oldest Spanish wineries.
The menu, planned by Xico chef Kelly Myers, will compliment four of Murrieta’s best bottlings; from fresh, bright Albariño to their prized Castillo Ygay Reserva Especial Rioja.
Welcome Wine and Hors d’oeuvre
Pazo Barrantes Albariño Rias Baixas 2014
This fresh, floral wine has aromatic intensity that allows us to go beyond seafood and fish usually matched with Albariño.
Fresh masa and yellow potato sopes with Oaxacan black beans with avocado leaf and pasilla de Oaxaca chiles, 100 chile chorizo and queso cotija.
Marqués de Murrieta “
This deep golden colored wine is rich and complex. Xico regulars might remember that we served it by the glass for a few months because it is perfectly matched with halibut. 100% Viura with hints of cream and oak.
Vuelve a la Vida
Dungeness crab, fresh halibut, clam and albacore cocktail with summer tomato, grilled green garlic, habanero, Worcestershire and lime. Served with fried corn tostadas.
To drink x 2
Marqués de Murrieta Rioja Reserva 2012
The wine that best expresses Murietta’s style; elegance, finesse, American oak, and ripe, red, spicy fruit.
Marqués de Murrieta Castillo Ygay Rioja Gran Reserva Especial 2007
Murrieta’s most acclaimed bottling is made from grapes grown on 80 year old vines on a high peak in Rioja Alta. The grapes are carefully handled during fermentation to develop the wine’s personality, then aged in oak barrels for 28 months, followed by 3 years in bottle before its release. What a treat!
Grilled beef, smoked chile soubise, cascabel chile salsa, grilled spring onion, fried salsa verde potatoes.
For dessert, coconut cocadas with dark chocolate, apricots and toasted almonds, served with Colombian dark chocolate sauce and whipped cream.
In partnership with Cellar Door, special bottle pricing will be offered for bottle purchases.
