Local Wines Supporting Local Senior Citizens Through June

In May Union Wine Company, Amity Vineyards and Christopher Michael Wines pledged 5% of each local retail sales price to Meals on Wheels People through the end of June. Meals on Wheels People is a volunteer organization that prepares and delivers meals to senior citizens in Multnomah, Washington, and Clark counties.

The organization was founded in 1969 by Jean Wade, Martha Shull, and Cay Kreiger with a mission to enrich the lives of senior citizens and assist them in maintaining independence by providing nutritious food, human connections, and social support. Today Meals on Wheels People has grown to include 400+ volunteers who produce and deliver 5,000 meals five days each week.

The idea to support Meals on Wheels came from Union Wine Co.’s marketing operations manager, Joan Olbrantz, who personally volunteers for the organization signing up for food deliveries on a weekly basis.

Local communities can support Meals on Wheels with the purchase of wines from Union WineCo., Amity Vineyards, and Christopher Michael Wines, signing up to volunteer, or donating
