Hey Love, an oasis in the heart of Central Eastside, wants you to stay all
PORTLAND, Ore. (October 12, 2018) — Jupiter NEXT, Portland’s newest locally-owned high-end boutique hotel, introduces their new tenant: Hey Love. This all-day restaurant and cocktail lounge is a love letter to Portland and an oasis in the heart of the city. Serving tropically- inspired comfort food and bright and balanced drinks, Hey Love aspires to be the place you never want to leave.
In this swanky, plant-filled haven, it’s summer all year round. The walls are lush with exotic plants and local art. The music is rich and soulful—and at least a few decades old. The food is fresh, bold and bright, with a hearty nod to warmer climates. The drinks are vibrant, sexy and always fun. Hey Love is a community meeting hall, an afternoon study spot, an exceptional cocktail lounge, hidden garden and a house party, all wrapped into one.
The curators of Hey Love are a local team of industry veterans: Emily Mistell (longtime Rum Club bar manager), Sophie Thomson (former Food and Beverage Director at Mississippi Studios and Revolution Hall), Aaron Hall and Nick Musso (co-owners at Dig a Pony). These minds behind Hey Love see it as reflective of the ever-changing mosaic of Portland cultural life. The philosophy is one of open arms, welcoming all positive producers and paying homage to the city’s rich history. Locals and visitors alike will feel welcome and comfortable, making it the perfect place to stop in whether you live in Portland or are waking up from a night at the NEXT.
Since July, Hey Love has been running Jupiter NEXT’s lobby coffee shop, the Hey Love Superette. Included in the menu are delicious concoctions like the Sure Shot, featuring Proud Mary cold brew concentrate with a little bit of Bee Local honey and lightly whipped heavy cream, topped with freshly grated cinnamon and Jacobsen Salt Co. dark chocolate sea salt. Local company GrönCBD, owners of the country’s first-ever CBD cafe, provides the main ingredient for Hey Love’s CBD-infused latte. You can also find Fleur de Lis bakery goods, as well as teas from Rishi Tea and Botanicals.
Aaron Hall, co-owner of Hey Love, offered a sneak peek of the restaurant’s all-new perpetually summery menu designed by Chef Roscoe Roberson and Beverage Director Emily Mistell: Pork cheek tamale with pineapple salsa and cocktail “When Shirley Met Lavern”—It’s a spritz! Gin, citrusy white wine, white cranberry, elderflower, and peach (pictured here). More photography of the bright, fresh menu items will be forthcoming and sent as soon as possible.
The Jupiter NEXT is thrilled to house this team of community-minded restaurateurs. In a like-minded fashion, the NEXT is a haven for uninhibited, inspired travelers and cultural creatives who are looking for a tried-and-true, all-inclusive Post-Portlandia Portland experience. “We make it easy for creative people to stay here,” says Tod Breslau, Co-Owner of Jupiter Hotel and Jupiter NEXT. “Unlike big box hotels, Jupiter Is crafted from our personal experiences and therefore resonates on a personal level for each guest,” Hotel co-owner Kelsey Bunker says. “We decided to move forward with Hey Love precisely because they come from the community; they are of the community; they understand community, and all are welcome.” With Hey Love’s intention to be a space where you’ll be comfortable morning, noon, and night, the community vibe will be strong.
Hotel co-owner Kelsey Bunker continues, “The Jupiter is a place where people feel comfortable whether they arrive in a limo, by skateboard, or by bicycle. It’s not just a hotel in Portland, it’s a Portland hotel.” The Jupiter community now welcomes Hey Love to the fold; the restaurant’s grand opening is this Friday, October 12 at their location within the Jupiter NEXT hotel at 900 E Burnside St in Portland, Oregon.
