Chef pop-up events are now happening at House of Tasty.
Take a journey with us to Oaxaca
House of Tasty is hosting a pop-up with award-winning chef Maylin Chavez of Nácar Oysters, and formerly of the Portland gem Olympia Oyster Bar.
Discover the world of Mezcal, the ancestral spirit of Mexico, while learning the importance of a sense of place. Merroir and terroir: terms that describe how the land and water effect all items around it. In this case: wine, oysters, seafood, mezcal and people.
The dining experience will feature a six course dinner inspired by Oaxacan cuisine. The first 5 dishes centered around seafood from Chef Maylin then a finish with dessert from local pastry chef Palmira Obeso.
Beverages will feature a flight of Mezcal Unión hosted by agave expert Jessica Braasch, cocktail pairings created by Adriana Alvarez of Paadee, and at the end of the meal, Cristina Gonzales will pour white Malbec from her label Gonzales Wine Company.
This pop-up event draws inspiration from the women and cultures of Mexico, and is lead by them too.
